Situational Confidence, It’s a Thing

Telling ourselves, or telling others, that we’re not confident or that we’ve lost our #confidence impacts us, how we perceive ourselves, and how others perceive us.

When you’re feeling like your confidence is lacking, try being specific with where the confidence-slump is in your life and see if you can pull that back into proportion by weighing it against an area where you are really quite confident.

Notice how you sit, stand, feel, talk when you are doing whatever it is that feels really comfortable to you, where you have a lot of confidence.

Practice pulling from THOSE features to work on the area of the confidence slump. In my video I use the example of the difference I feel in creating a program versus how I feel #pitching a program.

When I meet someone who’s interesting to me, who is sharing about themselves, I can see and feel their potential. Creating a program for them to realize this potential for themselves comes from what I can see in them and from the practice in working with people and from the training I’ve had in leadership, management and coaching. When I’m doing this I am able to flow freely with my work, I can let distraction go, the steps become clear. I’m in this state of excited ease. I sit forward, I may be smiling as I’m drawing it up or writing it down. I’ve seen the results and have felt a lot of pride when people complete my programs and are happier, lighter, and feeling more accomplished.

Now, do I have this SAME confidence PITCHING these programs? God no! 🫣

I know that there are a lot of coaches out there. Some who have more experience, more credentials, more calmness, more whatever. AND, what if the person to whom I’m pitching thinks I sound like a……saleswoman?! GROSSSSS! Oh the dread!

Yeah, my mind gets tangled up in BS. And, in order to ever get these value packed, thoughtful, energizing, confidence building programs in front of ANYONE, I obviously have to “sell them”. Otherwise, it’s just me talking to myself about how I might be able to help you. Obviously that does neither of us any good at all.

One of the things I can do to make the path between the confidence valley and the confidence peak really well worn, is to take all of the good traits I have at the confidence peak and pack them over to the confidence valley. I think this differs from the “fake it to you make it” a bit, but maybe not that much! Right? If I’m able to embody the excitement, lightness, good thoughts, and creativity I feel when I’m creating a program with me when I am talking about that program it doesn’t have to feel like I’m selling the program. The selling can happen naturally, I take the pressure off myself and the person on the other side of the conversation benefits from that. I’m just talking about something I believe in.
